Joyful news..... NIR.... what I've been wanting to share!

Great to see LLSR finally bringing the spotlight on their NIR patent acquisition!.... they softly mentioned NIR in their later amendments but didn't provide any meat intentionally (I assume) due to patent timing/negotiations ...etc. From what I heard, they have NIR exclusive worldwide rights in both human and animal dentistry. This is a perfect complement to OCT and I'm sure LLSR will provide access to NIR dental reports and photos soon.... but let me provide some basic explanations from some papers I read late last year.

Tooth enamel is opaque......amazingly, at the optimum light wavelength (hence NIR is born), the enamel on the tooth becomes transparent. Both NIR and OCT use the same light source with some other common components. So LLSR can now add a 2nd significant diagnostic system tool integrated into the same platform with a much lower BOM while significantly adding dentist & client value (and a larger GPM). From what I've read, NIR can replace ~ 70% (lets say 60-80% until LLSR makes the claim) of the applications for x-rays.... everything above the gum line..... this is BIG!

In order to provide a visual on how these two diagnostic tools complement each other, picture a tooth like a loaf of bread. The NIR scans the loaf (the tooth's enamel is now transparent so any discoloration or issue in the tooth is highly visible). The NIR scan's all the teeth quickly identifying which tooth (loaf) or teeth (loafs) show signs of issues..... then the OCT scan further identifies that the issue is located in slice 3 and 4 of that loaf of bread and slices 8 thru 10 for another loaf of bread....etc...... a macro(loaf)/micro(slice of loaf) combination resulting in a 1-2 punch knockout!

Can't wait for LLSR to share more!

That's why I remain,

Enlightened
