Oh and just as a side not...think about the fact that you are buying a company that has 1M, or about 330,000 net acres of solid shale gas land, premium to nymex, infrastructure in place (GazMetro giving us huge support for that), and a sweet methane gas (very rare)...and all for nothing. I mean how interesting is that really. If you take a quick moment to realize how absurd.
How many articles have to read about new shale gas discoveries and plays in NA in the past few years? My guess would be close to zero...but, how many shale gas mergers and buyouts have we read about in the past few years? An absolute ton. It clearly shows you that find new shale gas plays isn't easy, which is why we see all this news on looking internationally. Companies with deep pockets are looking to buy and now foreign investors looking to buy our assets in this country.
Throw on top of all that...that Apache has left NB because they clearly don't see the any potential or maybe just don't want to bother with it and BC shale needing very high prices and a lot of things to fall into place to supply everyone (I believe they are going the route of LNG now). That leaves shale plays Alberta and one big one in Quebec.
The article posted here a few months back...from an oil/gas expert saying that Alberta needs to start thinking about where to export it's gas in the next couple years...that Quebec will sort itself out and will have it's own gas to use. It said how Alberta needs to look to the US more etc.
Nothing happens overnight, but you can see the many things going for us when you take a look at the very large picture. When I see companies like SouthWestern SWN go from $2 to $50 in 4-5 years time, doing the shale thing all on their own, it goes to show you that the possibilities are huge and the potential is great...it just takes some time.
Hope everyone is having a good week and keep the faith, things will get better no doubt!
