Hey Life: Agreed ...but it is all part of the environmental process. We must provide the average person enough information and time to digest the info so that they can understand the drilling activity that they think is disrupting their lives. It is the typical Bell curve. When there is no knowledge there appears to be no risk...but when a person has a bit of knowledge about an issue then they see what they feel are serious risks. Once the individual gains enough knowledge then the risks appear to dissipate. We are much past that stage and understand the big picture so we ignore the risks...which by the way are still present. The fracing is a risk that is seen as acceptable in this scenario given the thickness of non-freshwater bearing rock between the freshwater aquifers and the gas bearing zone. With proper sealing of the drill hole and surface casing then the risk is further minimized...but then it only lowers the probability of an incident in this play. Although it is minimized it is not negated. The BP incident proved that. Minimizing the risks can only be accomplished by a good company and the individuals working on the rigs under a regulatory regime that enforces through compliance. I think we have eveything we need to accomplish this in Canada. Hope that made sense.
