I've checked out Investtech's homepage. Whilst many of their recommendations are 'generated' by machine, this is not the case with their 'stock of the day'. This is selected by Investtech analysts - not by machine. The home page also states that this applies only to the Oslo Stock Exchange. For other markets, candidates are indeed bought and sold automatically as you suggested in your post.
