Thanks for posting that jinxer. It was encouraging to hear them say that early results were in comparison to the Barnett....from the flow rates to the depths and porspority etc. Every shale is different, so they have to tweak their drilling techniques and where to drill as time goes on. It's a different learning curve for each shale play.
Both results from Forest and TLM did pretty well...Talisman gave us a good 800mcf/d for 18days, with rates steady, or increasing. Does anyone how long Forest got their 1mmcf/d rates for? Even if they declined to 500mcf/d, that isn't that bad. In an article I posted on here about the Barnett, vertical wells were producing anywhere between 500-1000mcf/d...doesn't neccessarily have to be extremely large. The horizontal flow rates they got were anywhere from 1mmcf/d to 2.5mmcf/d...and the decline rates where somewhere around 50%. It just takes some specific tweaking of drilling as time goes on to maximize results.
Both majors have great experience with these, so I'm confident they'll do the best they possibly can when it comes to drilling and refining their techniques over time.
