* Fluor booked $1 bln for project in second quarter
* First production seen in 2014
NEW YORK , July 13 (Reuters) - Fluor Corp (FLR.N) said on Wednesday it won a contract from Quadra FNX Mining Ltd (QUX.TO) for work on its new Sierra Gorda copper and molybdenum project in Chile.
Fluor said it booked $1 billion for the project in the Atacama Desert in the second quarter, and its work will include providing engineering, production and construction management services for the mine's processing plant.
First production from the mine is expected in 2014, with processing capacity of about 110,000 tons per day of ore.
That is expected to rise to 190,000 tons per day in the fourth year of operations. (Reporting by Matt Daily, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
