Given Vale's $50 USD 50/tCO2e internal carbon emission costing, switching to natural gas from diesel fuel will only save them about $283,000 per year in emission costs, vs up to $1,000,000 in direct emission cost savings from using electricity. PER TORCH.

In other words, a plasma torch will result in 

~ $700,000 per year emission cost savings vs natural gas. 

~ $1,000,000 per year emission cost savings vs diesel.

Also, if you factor in methane emissions from upstream operations, natgas is a climate killer.
