Cockatoo Coal flooding update at Baralaba mine in Queensland
Wednesday, January 12, 2011
Industrea (ASX: IDL) has the whole-of-mine contract for the Baralaba coal mine in Queensland, owned by Cockatoo Coal (ASX: COK), which has been impacted by the states flooding disaster.
Last week Cockatoo said that it anticipates a production delay of some weeks or potentially longer at Baralaba, but no guidance on timing for re-opening the main pit production can yet be made.
Industrea subsidiary, Huddy’s Mining Services, which conducts the work at Baralaba, is working closely with Cockatoo to plan for re-commencement of operations, and expects to be involved in the remediation works.
Looking forward, Cockatoo anticipates increasing production from Baralaba to around 750,000 tonnes each year by FY2011/12, and then to in excess of 3 million tonnes annually from 2014/15.
