(FT) — Coal prices hit a fresh two-year high on Tuesday as the worst flooding in Australia in at least three decades intensified.
The flooding, which has submerged open pit coal mines and railway links, is having a major impact on supplies as Australia is the world’s top exporter of coking coal, used in steelmaking, and the second largest in thermal coal, used to fire power stations.
