Message: power transmission lines

First post here.

Really appreciate EodWay for setting up this message board and sharing your thoughts and information here and at stockhouse.

I started an initial position today after watching for a while. As all of us know, while coal production from Ulaan Ovoo coal mine gives us the solid support for the current valuation of the company, the biggest chance exists in the Chandgana coal mine, especially the power plant plan. One noticeable detail in the Nov 15 NR is: "future 4,200MW to 10,000 MW installed base; vast potential exists to supply Chandgana electricity to China via dedicated 800kv DC lines". First thing is the change of the size from 4.2GW in previous NRs to 4.2GW to 10GW in this NR, which is good. Another technical detail is 800kv DC power transmission lines. I 'd like to know how much it would cost. I did a little digging and just found out that China has this technology, which is ideal for long-distance (500-2000 KM), large-capacity (in GWs) power transmission with transmission loss of about 3% or less. From my estimate, the power line alone cost anywhere from $100-$300 millions. However, if 1wh is 5 cents profit, then 4.2GW is $210M per year. It makes sense if the company can work with a partner from China with very deep pocket, ideally, a large power company. And that senario is suggested in this PR, since only China has the mature technology for this kind of power transmission. Although at this stage it is still speculative, the upward potential is huge. The good thing is, this company is only valued by Ulaan Ovoo alone currently. So the downward risk is very limited.
