Hi
Just got back from sustainable Ag conference (mostly organic producers) in S.D. A few things of note for investing interest, health interest or... maybe nobody's interested!
Everyone concerned about the slow movement of grains, esp wheat. Very tough to be optimistic about the future when you can't sell what you have for a decent $. US producers looking to diversify from wheat and oats to other crops like flax.
Keynote speaker an old vet who is into holistic approaches and concerned about food safety. His big points: Roundup is being found to be a harmful polluter, despite past assurances it is safe. He thinks this will be big. Even bigger, is A2A2 cattle. eons ago, cattle split genetically into A2A2 strain and "others". "Others" are giving milk that may be contributing to autism etc. Current move in dairy ind to test cattle and move into only A2A2 herds. He is very concerned about the amnt of hormones used in cattle. Causing premature puberty in girls (through milk consumption) and enviro hazards incl fish not breeding due to hormones in water.
SD has a ton of snow! There is still corn in the fields. This will be tough for them to spring harvest and then plant into those fields. Too bad pheasant season isn't still on, they are all over the place looking for food.
Cheers, and buy your food wisely.
