Is this the equivalent of averaging down?

I break many rules such as not diversify, not put in place stop losses, etc; I average up but I never average down.

My big 'ticket' came last year; licking wounds and wonder when and where to put my money this coming year

The markets seem crazy; I tend to stick to gold mainly as a last resort if everthing else just goes down the hole. The problem with resources is that China just controlls the demand so much and they can turn it on and off when they please. Solar is down the tube; Timminco, ARISE

I know about peak oil etc, but these days they get higher extraction rates out of each well so they can extend production further, oil sands got bashed because of CO2 and global warming. However, it looks like global warming will not dominate first pages going forward so I will look into the bad of the bad such as Suncor.

Team, any other thoughts?
