OK Cedar, I'll chime in...

My favourite gold producers are Goldcorp, Kinross and Eldorado.

Why Goldcorp?

  • Lotsa gold in the ground (in Canada!).
  • Picking up or finding new ore bodies in Red Lake area.
  • Cost per ounce is OK.
  • Currently in my portfolio.

Why Kinross?

  • Lots and lotsa gold in the ground (in Russia and South America).
  • Kupol in Siberia is huge and low cost per ounce.
  • With Russian counterparts and new deposits in S. America, Kinross could become a much larger producer.
  • Higher risk than Goldcorp (possibly higher reward).
  • I have held Kinross a number of times, usually sell at $24 per share then buy in around $17-18 (right now!).

Why Eldorado?

  • A good mid-size producer in Turkey and China.
  • I have also made good money with these guys.
  • Analysts seem to really like the growth potential of ELD.
  • Comparable in size to Yamana, but some folks dislike Yamana due to some debt issues.

I like all 3, but wish I still held my Eldorado!
