OK Cedar, I'll chime in...
My favourite gold producers are Goldcorp, Kinross and Eldorado.
Why Goldcorp?
- Lotsa gold in the ground (in Canada!).
- Picking up or finding new ore bodies in Red Lake area.
- Cost per ounce is OK.
- Currently in my portfolio.
Why Kinross?
- Lots and lotsa gold in the ground (in Russia and South America).
- Kupol in Siberia is huge and low cost per ounce.
- With Russian counterparts and new deposits in S. America, Kinross could become a much larger producer.
- Higher risk than Goldcorp (possibly higher reward).
- I have held Kinross a number of times, usually sell at $24 per share then buy in around $17-18 (right now!).
Why Eldorado?
- A good mid-size producer in Turkey and China.
- I have also made good money with these guys.
- Analysts seem to really like the growth potential of ELD.
- Comparable in size to Yamana, but some folks dislike Yamana due to some debt issues.
I like all 3, but wish I still held my Eldorado!
