Portee,
I just finished a tour into the United States. What I saw and heard confirms the McLeans article. The average Joe in ths USA is concerned about their economy, their politics, their world presence and how they will regain previous status.
I spoke with an Iraq war soldier - very disillusioned with the President and the corruption. As an emergency room nurse he also saw too much American blood.
Spoke with a born and bred Republican who will be voting Independent this November.
Sat in a small town restaurant and eavesdropped on the staff conversation - easy to do since I was the only one in there - they clearly stated that people just don't have the money to eat out anymore.
Sad for them, but it is great to be a Quiet Canadian. And, I will not apologize for my prosperity and good fortune.
Be well KXLers.
