Ganalane's solar watch list

If I was farming, I think it would be fun (not that farmers don't already have 1 million things to do) to set up at least a very small pilot solar-power project, just to see the whole idea working.

We have been looking at doing it here in the city, but our property is strata and nobody can herd cats well enough to make that happen.

What's on your solar watch list?

I picked on off this board some time ago - was it yours?:

30 solar companies:
AKNS ASTI BSRC CHPO CNUV CSIQ CSUN CSOL EPOI ESLR ESRG FSLR ICPR JASO LDK OCTL OEGY QTWW SESI SLTN SOEN SOLF SPWR STP TSL TSSP WFR WWAT XSNX YGE

That's too many for me to understand.

I think you said that you actually hold the following, possibly not up to date: CSIQ STP CSOL WFR SPWR TIM FSL

I am working to wrap my mind around: ASTI, CSUN, YGE, WFR. I could look at APV CSIQ STP CSOL FSLR SPWR. Also the solar ETF from Van Eck, KWT is interesting. Nice and small at $25m (smaller always better).

I really just want a few on my key list.

I did the same with the Geraldton mining stocks, and cut it down to KXL and SGX, that's it. I figure that's where the value is. And I have very little SGX.

Would love to know what your favourites are. So far I have none as they're too new to me.

If I could buy Nanosolar, I would bet the farm (so to speak) on that one - roll to roll, all their future production presold for years, super cheap costs, excellent people and technology. But the VC's have it all locked up. They will let it 750-tuple before letting us have a crack at it.
