I don't mean to predict a big fall in POT or other fert prices. A yr ago I didn't invest in POT cuz I thought it was getting ahead of itself! However, if grain drops back near our normal levels, there is NO WAY farmers around here could pay the current fert prices. I would keep an eye on the grain futures. Dad says that the during last grain grain boom in the early 70's, they were told to produce all they could, cuz soon China would have a billion people and the growing world pop would eat up all we could produce and we'd never see low grain prices again. Sound familiar? LOL! I think this fall/winter will tell a lot. If the new US Pres cuts biofuel subsidies, and if world production goes ok, there could be quite a reduction in grain and fert prices. If there is production problems more than usual, there could be even higher prices for both. How is that for being on both sides of the fence?!
I get a bit out of the loop on store prices, we eat our own beef and pork and the wife does most of the shopping. I know beer has gone up more than barley though! Farm deisel (less tax than at the pumps) is $1.10/L or over $4 gal I believe. BTW Portee, meeting your wife being fingerprinted is PRICELESS!
