The Germans have, by and large, learned the bitter lessons taught them in the 20th century about fiat currencies, unsupported spending and borrowing, wild speculation and give-away economies. While many of the other European countries are baying pitifully at Madam Merkel, she is taking her time and demanding real change before committing her tax payers to a course which they may all seriously regret later.
