Hi Tau,
I've never "found" new ideas at the conference. The Hunter Dickinson people have a new set of companies. Curis is a copper play. If you are a Rob McEwan follower , VG Gold is a Rob McEwan play that has news to come. Buying FRX at 6.5 is a discount to the merger price of .095. Of course that depends on the merger price holding. Like KXL, the prices languish going into the marriage. Then management announces the new inititatives with the marriage consummated.
I can't say if these are actionable without further study.
I also was around booths where the stock was hot. And the talk was of new financing 10% below the current new high. Buy low, sell high is the cure for that .
What I've learned is, if you attend the confernce year after year, the ceo's of the companies you are involved with speak frankly with you. Little nuances like body language or tone of voice can tip you off. Follow your instincts. Sell and buy. Talking to IR for the most part does not count - with the rare exception.
Ciao,
