The anti-gold bugs always refer back to spring of 1980 where gold was driven up by the Hunt brothers attempt to corner the silver market; and yes between mid seventies to early nighties you would have been better off buying the major stock index than gold. Other than that gold shines.

The market guru's are scared of gold since it is too simple, it just increases in value. The whole industry is based on this fright of gold, they have to create and manipulate, and call things so many different names, and create so many laws, that nobody understand them; so they must be wonder kids. Most of what goes on in the financial markets is just woodo economics, it all tumbles down at times. The only ways to make money on the stock market is to either be lucky or listen carefully to Portee, Spiny and others with a pretty good track record as far as I can see.
