Creating shareholder wealth by advancing gold projects through the exploration and mine development cycle.
I spent some time last weekend reviewing the reasons to stay invested, or not, with Kodiak. The Hercules resource estimate and latest Milestone results are not at company making levels. We've heard no news from West Millenium so I'm not expecting anything. Two other project areas had some decent results noted in the Sep 14 press release, West Geraldton and Brenbar. I looked further into these two properties but there's not much on the website. WG is near Premier's Hardrock property but the maps posted on the GRC website suggest their big finds are on a different structure trend from Kodiak's WG grid, so a big find is less likely. I searched for some info on Brenbar and found the following link : http://www.geologyontario.mndm.gov.on.ca/gosportal/OGS-publication-index-open-file-report-series.html#OFR5630
This property looks promising so I sent an e-mail to Brian yesterday and received a reply today. My e-mail is listed first with Brian's reply next:
I noted in the May 13 release that the Brenbar project area will be re-visited with drilling this summer. Since there’s little information posted on the Kodiak website I did some searching and came across OFR 5630 which describes the historical data from the Brenbar property. They presented some assay with impressive results although the sampling methodology probably wouldn’t be acceptable today. While you wouldn’t expect all of the areas with the richest grades to be discovered in the 1930’s and 40’s when geologic models were primitive and geophysics didn’t exist, it appears that the most successful finds recently occurred on re-worked, older deposits such as found on the Ontex(Goldstone) Brookbank and Premier Hardrock properties. It’s possible that Brenbar could hold the same potential so I would like to put the following questions to you:
1) Will the Brenbar project be upgraded on the website so we can access maps and drill information via a link?
2) The September 14, 2009 press release had results for BB09-01 and a statement that additional drilling would begin shortly. Was any additional drilling done or was it grid work and geophysics such as the VTEM survey?
3) The March 09 presentation shows a picture of what appears to be the Brenbar working (large, water filled pit) and large quartz (?) veining. Is Brenbar both a gold and a massive sulphide target?
The response:
Thanks for the thoughtful and well researched questions. Brenbar has three target types: high grade veins similar to that exploited in historic mining operations, shear-zone hosted gold at lower grades but over significant widths and precious metal rich VMS deposits. Drilling was done last year on all three target types.
With regard to your specific questions:
1) We are in the process of updating the web site and we will add more information about all our projects shortly.
2) As mentioned above, some additional drilling was done with more drilling planned for this year. A VTEM survey has been completed as well.
3) The water filled pit is the original Brenbar mine shaft.
Brenbar is one of ten major targets that we are working on in the Beardmore-Geraldton greenstone belt. We are keeping a balanced approach to discussing each target and allowing them to become more prominent as positive results confirm resource potential, e.g. Milestone. That said, I will endeavor to put more information on the web site as you have requested.
So I've decided to wait and see what they find this summer for what it’s worth.
