The area of the eastern townships of Quebec , about 98 KM. from Montreal near the Vermont border, where I live contains a microclimate which is just great for growing grapes. We have many wineries specializing primarily in whites and specialty wines such as ice wine. There is a route which winds around the area called the Route des Vins which encompasses each of the vineyards. If you are a true Quebecois you could probably taste them all in one day at degustation and still be home in time to open a bottle of ripple. Portee, I think that you would find our wines just a little more classy than ripple. Being an ex-patriate East Texan I prefer my Jack Daniels and coke although I must confess that the ice wine is really special but a bit more expensive than the Thunderbird I grew up on.
I hope that we shall soon see the light at the end of this long tunnel and that it will be Vegas baby and not just another bloody train.
