dutchie,

I constantly see announcements, by companies I've never heard of, of "high grade" or excellent drill results that are maybe 10, 5, 3, or even less g/t. Some are over relatively large areas, say 30m or so, but many are much less. Every time I see something like that, I say to myself "Didn't Kodiak have better results than that? Multiple times?", and if I then go back and look, yes, indeed, Kodiak had really eye-popping initial results. Which is why they were "Discovery of the Year" or some such term. Portee has occasionally re-posted photos and summaries of the results that remind many of us why we got into this stock in the first place. As to your question of whether Kodiak would get the same explosion in share price if they were to announce those result for the first time today, I doubt it. Times have changed, and I don't see the same response to drill announcements lately. Maybe a short term bounce, but often for only a day if that.

The closest comparison I can think of is Rubicon, and even their share price has risen gradually, not explosively, from around $1 to now over $4 as they announce one incredible result after another. Rubicon is drilling like mad in the process of rapidly defining a huge resource. If Kodiak had kept up the pace of excellent results that Rubicon is setting, then maybe their share price would never have tanked so badly. Kodiak has continued to publish results, but so far nothing that bears out the (maybe unrealistic) potential indicated in their initial releases. I still think Kodiak has plenty of gold there, and that they will find it as they do more drilling, or just make better or luckier decisions as to where to drill. Maybe they'll just have to plug away with "more of the same" results until they define a realistic resource. Or maybe those hoped for spectacular results that get the share price moving again are in the next news release...
