"Every explorer does this - the good ones know when to cut their losses." - exactly right.
Like we do for stocks, KXL did their exploration (that is the nature of the company), and then did their DD (stripping drilling geology) and we can clearly surmise didn't find anything of _sufficient_ economic value.
Sage needs to do _something_ as their options are limited.
I don't think KXL wasted a penny. Smart exploration.
In stock investing, once in a while you get a "ten-bagger", as Peter Lynch put it. That doesn't mean all the effort you put into all the other stocks you checked out was wasted. If you didn't check out the other ones, you'd never find a ten-bagger.
