So Kodiak has acquired yet more property? More dilution (though "only" a million shares, with an option to give out another 550,000) and more expense ($4-7 million, though spread out over 4-7 years) right at a time when Kodiak still needs to spend quite a bit of money (maybe all they have left) defining a resource on the properties they already have? Maybe I don't know all of the behind the scenes details, but on the surface this doesn't make me real happy. I would rather see Kodiak making deals that bring in money, even at the cost of giving up a percentage of future gains, as long as it guaranteed the funding required to prove up a resource and get this company to the next level. Kodiak may have more cash on hand than some of the other junior explorers in the region, but that doesn't mean they have enough to use helping other companies prove up their resources. If Kodiak is so confident of their own properties, why not spend the money drilling them up? The only way that this deal would make sense to me is if Kodiak has already gotten results back that prove up a major resource, or if they have already done some fantastic deal with a major that means they don't have to worry about funding. I'm waiting to see what news release is next. This certainly isn't the one I was waiting for.
