I agree with your observation, past news releases usually have been hit with selling, and today is no different. It is those traders and short-term holders waiting for news who wanted to or were required to sell. Once they are done, my expectations are for slowly rising SP unless there is some surprise announcements along the way. A spike in gold prices would help too.
