Great discussion… In my opinion, this is an extremely important descussion. The macro economic forces have played a much larger impact on the price of KXL than the micro factors such as the news releases, etc. Therefore including these descussion on the board is completely relevant and I must give my 2 cents:
Inflation vs. Deflation
This is a critical distinction to make as an investor today. Inflation means money will come back from the sidelines and raise stock markets back to levels previously reached and beyond, while deflation means there is not as much money stockpiled on the sidelines and stock markets will take much longer to bounce back. For us KXLers, inflation in my opinion is a much better scenario as the actual POG will increase rather than just maintaining value in deflation. It also means people are spending money again, and therefore so will businesses. One thing to keep in mind is the only really important part of any business equation is profit margin – what can you sell a product for minus what your costs are.
Inflation is and has always been caused by an increase in the money supply. Therefore at a first glance, the trillions of dollars created and thrown into the banking system would typically point to inflation. But there is a lot more to the real money supply story, much of which is not properly understood. For instance, if trillions of dollars have disappeared from the stock markets, commodities, housing markets banks, and other worldly assets, where has it all gone? … Think about this question… because once you understand the answer you should be better equipped as an investor to face either inflation or deflation.
I look forward to reading some ofther answers before I throughout my thoughts.
