maybe i was unclear.

goldcorp acquired virginia, swallowed it whole, but shareholders knew they were going to get virginia stock back again. we got goldcorp shares for the Eleonore prospect alone.

then goldcorp spit out the New Virginia, with fewer shares outstanding and a treasury full of cash contributed by goldcorp, which became a major shareholder.

virginia shareholders kept their company, got a cash infusion from goldcorp and got goldcorp stock for Eleonore. that is the point.

The parallel here, which I think Maher is referring to, is he would sell off Hercules or the Golden Mile, while keeping his team and his company together to explore the rest of the Beardmore-Geraldton properties, plus the uranium and base metal holdings.

I was never sure why Goldcorp felt compelled to acquire all of virginia and then reissue it as a Newco. maybe it had something to do with mineral titles?
