So I took off to Colorado gold country for 12 days. No computer, no stock watching. Just blue sky and big hills. Fascinating history of their gold mining industry. Panning creeks to find the motherlode. I highly recommend a driving tour for those with time to burn. And try to climb a 14'er - great for the lungs!

But I am a little surprised that there was no news from KXL. Not concerned though. The share price is doing its usual curve. I am really starting to wonder how big this discovery could be. From various posters, the Golden Mile veining system seems quite extensive.

There is an interesting comparison to the Geraldton/Beardmore camp and the Pikes Peak gold rush. Initial discoveries near Geraldton, such as McLeod Cockshutt and Little Long Lake, built up excitment and produced good gold, but once the easy stuff was gone, things died down. Then, the folks who persisted looked further afield and found bigger discoveries (like Colorado's Cripple Creek).

My fingers are crossed that Hercules will become NW Ontario's Cripple Creek. If there are 5 million ounces north of Jellicoe, this is good, but a larger deposit would certainly overshadow the 4 million ounces previously produced in the Geraldton area.

So I guess this is where Goldcorp comes in. They are by far my biggest holding (made a nice jump today!!!) and could very well be the buyer of the Hercules property. They have the money. They have said that juniors and exploration companies are better at proving out deposits. And they are looking for Canadian deposits to complement their Red Lake and Opapimiskan mines.

In a nutshell. The future could be interesting for 2 of my favourite companies and OUR favourite metal!

Be well KXLers.
