Allthough I don't put 100% faith in rumours,it is very likely that it could be true///Small town word is usually pretty accurate and gets around quickly and while not being able to give a grade or even a guess at a grade,visible is the key word in your posting..

Drillers are usually pretty tight lipped but if it was an exceptional find,it would definately leak...If it was "JUst visable gold",it may not leak,as these drillers have been pulling up visible gold in their cores from day one and by now "Visible gold" would be common place in KXL cores..

So if it was an exceptionally large "Visible gold" hit ,someone would be talking about it..even if they thought no one was listening.but sharp ears in a gold mining town are the rule,,not the exception..
