Your post is the most sensible thing I have read in a long time..

I have a wealth manager that manages part of my portfolio for me and at our meeting last Friday this very subject was the topic of discussion and he and most wealth managers us the same system to pick investments for their clients..THe system he uses relys strictly on the numbers..

I have a 300% return on the portion of my portfolio that I manage and he has given me net 6.5%...

When he asked me how I selected my stocks ,the first consideration I look at is management and the people involved with the company.

It was curious because I had been alerting him to two stocks that I really like...for the past two months..

Altius Minerals and Kodiak Exploration...

He also told me that he was at a Wealth managers and investment house managers meeting last week and the two names he kept hearing at the meeting that they were talking among them selves were...You guessed it...Altius Minerals and Kodiak Exploration..

Neither of which fall into his stock picking system because they are missing some of the numbers required to qualify..

With out the proper people ,they will not get the proper properties and it all goes down from there..

But the root investment principle for me starts with the people..

So my system using the minimum numbers..cash on hand..debt...number of shares..number of shares held by insiders and using the human element for investing gave me a 300% return..

His system using all the numbers and disregarding the human element gave me 6.5%...

His system tells you where the company was...useless ..

My system tells me where the comany is going..

Thats the difference with little or big profits..

For me anyway..

(And to be fair his investments for me are 95% risk free with a 6.5% net return...while my investment have a higher degree of risk..)
