A company looking for minerals around Chrome Mountain is planning to drill up to 15 exploration sites in the Gallatin National Forest.
The U.S. Forest Service says Premium Exploration Inc. could begin the project as early as September. The Forest Service is taking public comment on the project between Nye and Big Timber.
The Forest Service says the company plans to bring in two drill rigs by helicopter. Up to two exploration holes would be drilled at one time before the rigs are moved to another section.
No roads or trails are planned for the project. The Forest Service says areas disturbed by the drilling would be returned to a configuration similar to the original condition.
