PASSPORT METALS INC. REPORTS MINI BULK SAMPLE RESULTS FROM GILDA COPPER-GOLD PROPERTY
Passport Metals Inc. has completed a 10-tonne mini-bulk sample from the V2 vein system on its Gilda joint venture property located 25 kilometres northeast of the regional mining centre of Copiapo in Region III, Chile.
The V2 vein is 2.55 metres wide. A slot approximately 12 metres long was blasted to a depth of one metre along the vein. The vein was mineralized largely with copper oxides. The analysis of a composite sample from the 10 tonnes yielded a total copper grade of 3.30 per cent, with a soluble copper grade of 2.97 per cent. The silver grade was 30.5 grams per tonne. The analysis was completed by Soc. De Laboratorios Geologicos Atacama Ltda., of Copiapo, an ISO 9001:2000 certified facility.
The company is very pleased with these exploration results. However, Passport plans to scale back its Chilean exploration effort for the short term until market conditions improve.
The Gilda exploration program is being undertaken by Terrence Smithson, PEng (Alaska), a qualified person as defined in National Instrument 43-101.
The company is no longer continuing with KCrew Communications Inc. and will retain 321Gold Ltd. for market awareness commencing January, 2009.
R. Tim Henneberry, PGeo, a director of the company, is the qualified person as defined in National Instrument 43-101, who has reviewed and approved the technical content of this news release.
