To Note this applied only when a company was solid and transparent with valid prospects and management team.In most cases the company was lacking in understanding that your stock price is your currency and must be defended.Supporting your stock price is not a non event.

Back in the day when I was more involved in these type of activities, when an investment held by associates/connections etc was under performing price wise or was not getting recognition for assets held, a strategy used could/would be along the lines of sequence something like the following.

A) Provide funds via a placement of some sort/structure for a designated amount of capital to the company

B) Distribute shares to trusted/known/competent investors who agree that discount being shown by market to underlying company was not warranted

C)Promote/market/storytell/sing the praise etc whatever it took to get the word out

D)Should the activities mentioned pan out and bring about a more fair price for all involved a second financing is executed in conjunction with more powerful Institutional type investors and everyone wins.
