4 Tbps Optical FPGA Demo from Intel and Ayar Labs

The demo will showcase a 4 Tbps optical FPGA that integrates Ayar Labs’ in-package optical I/O. You’ll see 4 Tbps bidirectional communication between two optically enabled Intel FPGAs using Ayar Labs TeraPHY™ optical I/O chiplets. Data generated from each FPGA is optically transmitted from one board and received and verified on the other board. 4 Tbps optical FPGA demo video.

The optical FPGA demonstration shows:

• Two Intel FPGAs, each integrating two Ayar Labs TeraPHY optical I/O chiplets in-package
• Two SuperNova™ remote light sources
• 4 Tbps bidirectional bandwidth
• BER of 1E-15
• Operating without FEC
• 5 pico joules per bit of power
