Okledo as always good thoughts.

In my opinion  --- America still has a major economic “nuc strike” in its arsenal. Not talk about much. But I sense such a blow would be crippling the Chinese economy .

The question is whether or not the US decision-makers are prepared to execute .

At the end of 2001 China entered WTO. America (with respect) negotiated away the farm in the headlong desire to access two dollar a day labourer and other budget priced ‘inputs’ (cheered on by globalists)  they gave away  "most favoured trading" status to China.

This competitive advantage has been a magnet that has hollowed out America’s manufacturing capacity-- in the broadest sense. To illustrate the damage-- consider the current supply chain shortages-- military equipment for resupply in Ukraine. The capacity is no longer in America--- very dangerous situation.

Conversely China has thrived during the past 20 years --  economic evidence ...  consider using the metric of purchasing power parity--- China is well in front of America --- on the surface America retains title of the globe’s  strongest currency.  However the threat to America as the major vehicle currency is well discussed daily by those who look at emerging economic and political trends. The impact of such a seismic shift on Canada will be disastrous— some say is just a matter of time.

So the question becomes-- has this preferred relationship gone too far for America to cancel this special entrée into America’s wealth and manufacturing--- thereby forcing China to compete on a level playing field --- I am of the opinion their economy will quickly seize up and manufacturing / tech jobs will return.

Just a thought.. tpower
