The geopolitical risks involved for any international company is at the top of my list of concerns, especially in light of the confiscation of property of both Russia's assets and any private Russian citizens assets. Add the extreme sanctions, the destruction of the pipeline, and the sneers at how the west fooled Putin with the Minsk agreements, making it clear they never intended to keep them, and then try to view it all through the eyes of China.
We will be a trap The west now seems determined to goad China with public statements, which gives the leadership there no choice but to show their strength by not backing down. All of this is so strange to me, as though the world leaders seem determined to have another world war. Ten years ago we were all happily doing international trade and now this?
These are very dangerous times. Perhaps it makes sense to someone, but it doesn't to me. I hope our little company makes it through all of coming headwinds.
Zim.. Our thoughts are aligned with respect to your first paragraph. The second paragraph regarding goading China with public statements strikes me as foolhardy. As it does you.
On Zbigniew Brzezinski’s grand chessboard.. The strategy by the Chinese might well be.. A replay of 1989 where the Americans under Reagan outspent Soviets with the result near bankruptcy and a few years later Balkanization of the Federation. A good strategic move …well executed,
One might argue the same move now being replayed with the Americans and others funding Ukrainians in order for this Russians to exhaust their war supplies and standing army ---- save and except nuclear weapons.
Now it is China who sees the opening ---supplies weapons and funding to Russia to keep exhausting America ---- funds, and weapons. Increasing reports of Americans weapons reserves have been drawn down to a dangerous level. Increasing opposition from the American public disposition of assets abroad rather home---
the outcome ---- China is unscathed and when the battles are over Russia, Ukraine and America are exhausted and China standing in the catbird seat. This not to say China does not have a number of deep fissures… But it has improved disposition with this move..
Just a thought tpower
