I think the economic damage from the shutdown is going to be far worse than we can imagine.  This link is to one of the most renowned traders and economic advisers, and his outlook is rather bleak.  He is very well connected and knows that certain elites and politiians were advised to sell everything in January, both bonds and stocks.   The elites love having us divided and at eachothers throats so we won't look at them but at eachother.
