SCL has posted an EOI for automation of their 8” CMOS wafer fab, looks like they want to scale up production.  Of course, somewhat reminiscent of the now infamous (for POET fans) GaAs EOI and tender.  It will be interesting to see how this one progresses.

Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India has an 8 ‘’ CMOS Wafer Fabrication facility comprising 67 processing, metrology, electrical testing, yield and other support equipment. SCL desires to automate the wafer-fab line and through this EOI, invites interested and competent parties to submit their proposal for the project. A tendering process shall be undertaken subsequently and short listed vendors shall only be allowed to participate in this tendering process.

Accordingly, SCL solicits Expression of Interest (EOI) from the experienced and competent vendors interested in 8’’ Wafer Fab Automation. The proposal should be submitted as an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the supply, installation, and commissioning of a suitable system (comprising of both hardware and software modules) for the complete automation of all 67 nos. of existing equipment for 8’’ Fab of SCL, clearly indicating the expertise of the vendor in the Automation of 8” Wafer Fab. Company profile, areas of expertise and previous experience in this field should be clearly mentioned in the proposal.
