My thoughts on that Andech,

POET brought Blevins in and showed him what VCSEL technology could do for Apple but POET was too far away from commercialization and Apple wasn't willing to wait so they went down the road with Finisar. I hope I'm wrong and perhaps one day the POET/Apple connection comes into play.
