It was a big restoration project.  It is a handhewn stone building, 3-stories high.  The craftsmanship in the stonework displayed accomplished masters at work.  An example would be the keystones in the arched window openings.  They used interesting triangle shaped stones, you could tell they were showing off.   All the window openings are arched, 7 ft. tall. The woodworkers used nothing but old growth, clear Redwood, and had only handtools and square nails.  They too were masters and I continually admired their work.   If there was any question on how to build the operatioanal assemblies (double hung, Bay, and Dormer windows) we looked to see how they did it (the old constructiion).  We really couldn't improve on their work.  They had the best way, correct way to build.  The building has a name - The Francis House.          It should qualify be on the US National Restristry of Historical Places.  Cheers   BT
