GaAs epitaxial wafer maker LandMark Optoelectronics is currently developing 3D sensing solutions in cooperation with handset makers using its VCSEL devices with shipments of such sening products slated to begin in May-June, according to company sources.
LandMark expects sales of VCSEL products to account for 5-10% of its total revenues in 2018, said the sources.
Meanwhile, the company also reported increased sales for January thanks to a rebound in demand for 10G PON epi-wafer devices from its clients in China. January consolidated revenues came to NT$217 million (US$7.43 million), up 0.95% on month and 80.34% on year.
Shipments of 10G PON products will remain brisk through the first half of 2018, said the sources, adding that the company will also begin to volume produce new silicon photonics devices in the third quarter which help sustain its revenue growth for the year.
The company also plans to deal out dividends of NT$5 in cash for 2017, in which the company posted net profits of NT$655 million or NT$7.27 per share on revenues of NT$2.038 billion.
