I am having trouble with the image I am trying to load (it won't fit on the screen), but f... it, I think you will get my point. Here is my chart of PTK:
Green arrows denote when actual news hit the market. News is defined as new information. Red arrows denote the timing of scheduled events. Participants on the forum seem to have a hard time discerning between the two and therefore trouble understanding the market's future discounting mechanism.
While not 100% accurate, I would posit that green arrows accompany bottoms, and red arrows accompany tops. why? because traders, yes, all 4 of them, use the scheduled event to "play" the stock.
OK, where are we now? We are in a really important spot, a quiet period. While everyone on the forum freaks out about god knows what, NOW is actually the time that traders/buyers might be/should be moving in (long) to play the next earnings call. let's just assume it will be Nov.1. We have no idea when it actually will be, but it doesn't matter. Sometime in October, they will announce the CC.
My guess is that the stock will climb from here into the CC. And like clockwork, the forum will start blathering about blue sky coming in the CC, because they actually think the price moving higher is telling them useful information. They just don't get it: There are no secret gremlins out there with the secret knowledge of what magic poet will deliver next week to the fruit company and therefore the stock is moving higher etc. Will the CC once again be a top? We don't know, but anything short of annoucing an NRE deal will most likely result in a post CC sell off.
Just playing the dynamic in my head a few thousand times ahead of time helps turn the human comedy into farce. Almost as ridiculous as the Kabuki Theatre over at the Fed...
cheers!
