I would agree with this. IMHO, I also think there is a difference between the price of oil having bottomed and rebounding vs. the oil stocks hitting a bottom. I would be cautious about any oil stocks. There is no doubt opportunities, and for sure some 20% + gains to be had short term, but I wonder if the stocks have even begun to feel the pain yet. I predict, in general, that the financials will be very gloomy for quite some time, and this has not yet become completely visible. I continue to watch for opportunities, but I also feel that the real bottom for most of the oil stocks might be a couple of years away. Of course, I could be wrong, but that is how I am going to play it. I have seen too often "great opportunities" after significant weakness, just to continue to watch further weakening for a long period. If I were to buy any oil stocks now (which I am not going to do), I would only put in 25% of what I plan to spend and watch how it plays out.
