They finally have imo, the right people in place in the head office and behind the bench to turn the franchise around, that being said there is some young and very raw talent that will mature with a Stamkos in the lineup. Add in a couple of trades and off season signings and I think they could be a miiddle of the pack team next year. After that it's time to start competing with the big boys.

If you think back to 91, the Leafs really didn't have much other than Wendell. Fletcher and Burns appeared on the scene and shortly after that we pulled off the gilmour "steal" I mean trade. Add an ageing Dave Andreychuk (Hamilton boy) and a few journeymen to the mix and the Leafs were ready for battle!

Also Stamkos age really plays into this, he just turned 26 and his best years are ahead of him.

Everything boils down to signing Stamkos, does he want to come home? The pressure of playing in Toronto is hard enough, let alone putting the weight of the team on his shoulders! But if he does, it could be the beginning of something special, and in todays NHL there aren't a lot of big time point getters so when you have the opportunity to sign one you better pull the trigger!
