Mary Ann Summers has consistently outpolled Ginger Grant in popularity: according to Bob Denver (Gilligan), Mary Ann got over 5,000 fan letters a week, whereas Ginger may have gotten half that.

when CBS actually did various polls in the 60's Mary Ann beat out Ginger 3 to 1, and when USA Today did a poll in 1993, Mary Ann won by a landslide (85% of the vote).
