Hard to believe but they have taken what at one time was a somewhat decent website (afterall many of us did come from there) and destroyed it with what appeared to have been bad code or just bad decisions.

Yup, they've taken their bad decisions and apparently added on hence making to a *days are numbered* scenario?

I'm suspecting we'll see an ever increasing amount of folk joining us from *over there* not just because they want to be disruptive towards us but, because their ability to speak "SH**" has been stifled.

Stockhouse bans non-English characters

Instead of fixing the multitude of errors, missing features and bugs on this website, Stockhouse has seen fit to ban non-English characters that, I suppose, might be used to get around the site's profanity filters.

This means that one of Canada's official languages cannot properly be written here because accented characters are stripped from the text. Last evening I stated that Observer uses cliches and I put an accented "e" in the word by holding down the "Alt" key and typing "0233". The editor took it ok but the character was stripped out in the post.

This means, I guess, that proper names that contain Scandinavian, German, French and other non-English characters will not be allowed on Stockhouse. What about Greek characters that are used so much in scientific work?

Instead of policing cusswords, I think it's time for Stockhouse to clean up its website. We're still not getting notification that we have private messages waiting in our inboxes.

Anyway, I'm going to test a few characters below. I'll start with a character, the "cent" sign, and follow each character with a period. Banned characters will not appear and instead we'll see adjacent periods. What nonsense!
