Additional to the huge requirements of AI :
IMO with the introduction of the CAI photon fabric there is shown :
a PCIe bus isn't longer needed.
PCIe version 1 started long time ago in 2003 (now V5.0 is in rollout)
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express
Each normal PC has PCI implemented, even the biggest.
Typical used for external mass storage (discs) but also a lot for grafic (gaming) cards
PCIe is very limited in distanz (a few meters) and in speed/bandwith.
Replacing the PCIe with a traditional photonic interfaces was until now not possible:
too expensive, too large, much power consumption.
But the requirements are also further rising for the "normal" PC's.
With the new POET technology the situation looks completely different - with all the (us) known advantages.
Equipping the hundreds of millions of computers currently manufactured each year with a POET interface instead of PCI would solve a lot of current problems/limitations.
And - by the way - with an POET-interface it could also possible to extend main memory by an external one - instead of buying a new computer.
Or a further CPU or GPU or or ...
IMO there will take place a huge mass migration replacing PCIe with (POET's) photonic interfaces, starting rollout in a few years.
And all worldwide IT/HW-manufacterer want to be part of this.
With an incredibly big effect on POET as a company.
Does anyone see alternatives ?
