The light source for CAI fabric is connected via a grating coupler with FAU attached. That is how CAI connects into their fabric...at the surface. None of this describes the light source...which I expect is from POET. CAI is a customer. POET (as I understand it) began working on the next generation light source last fall.

Hopefully we will get an update on status but it is pretty clear that CAI is secretive.
