I am in agreement.
Sometimes, someone in the C-suite needs to fall on their sword for the good of the company.
With POET, the timing was bad for the fundraise, maybe not TM's fault; maybe they expected better news to come sooner, easing the markets for POET stock. So he was playing a bad hand.
I believe the technical talent at POET is amazing, and they are introducing a radical approach to the space. This clumsy round of financing can be blamed on a number of things, but it would be a benefit to have a new person to manage the finances going forward, even if they could not have done better. It gives new money a reason to stop looking for some technology-related reason for the sloppy money raise.
At this juncture, we need the juice of a CFO who has great cred with the investment community. Of course, a large order or announcement will put wind behind the CFO's back, but a new face would work better even in that situation.
