It is interesting for Dylan Patel to throw out that POET is "too expensive" when the industry partners that have spent significant money to review, test, co-engineer, and get ready for production seem to think otherwise. Sanan (in the 100G-400G space), BFYY, Adva, etc. may want to have a word. 

We would have something to discuss if he could point to a specific product that beats POET's anticipated pricing or some other logical basis for his statement. Without that, POET's unannounced prices are not credibly higher and he is just repeating crap or sour grapes.

There will be a lot of this, as the turf that POET wants to win is contested by incumbents and others who have hopes as well. 

In addition to price, there is the matter of an upgrade path and quality of the units. All competitors have a share of the problem of 800G being new, so the winner has not been ascertained yet.
